1) What's your new book about?
Branded is the first book in the new Whitehorse: Chisholm
Cattle Company series. The Chisholm family, like all of my Whitehorse families,
is in all kinds of trouble. But fortunately Hoyt Chisholm has six sons and a new bride and love conquers all. Eventually. :)
2) How do you balance your work and your life?
LOL. My husband drags me out of my office with me kicking and screaming. Seriously, it's tough. But I've found that letting him drag me out to do
something fun helps with the writing.
3) What's your writing process-- do you work from outlines or do you prefer off-the-cuff?
I'm a seat of the pants writer. I paint myself into a corner every book and have to write myself out of it. I wish I was an outliner, but I never know
what's going to happen until I start writing and the characters help me out.
4) What advice would you give a new writer wanting to break in?
Read and write and don't give up if you feel you have to write. For most of us, it isn't a choice. I can go a few weeks without writing but then I start
writing in my sleep and I know it is time to get back to work. Write from the heart.
5) Where do you get your ideas?
That's an easy one. Ideas are everywhere. I listen to what people are excited about, what's going on around me, what's in the news. I swear that ideas
just seem to come as I need them. It takes a whole bunch of ideas to write a book so I'm always open to them.
6) Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many favorites and I read so many different types of books that is hard to answer. A few suspense favorites are Laura Lippman, Nancy Pickard,
Harlan Coben, Joseph Finder, T. Jefferson Parker.
7) Is there anything you'd like to tell your readers?
Thank you. My readers make it possible for me to do what I love -- keep writing. I'm so thankful that so many of them fell in love with the Whitehorse
